EAT

Dreamland BBQ

5535 15th Ave. East, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405
(205) 758-8135

This famous Tuscaloosa staple is the place for authentic Alabama barbecue. As the iconic restaurant’s original location, Dreamland Tuscaloosa has a long and flavorful history coated in southern-style BBQ sauce (it’s vinegar-based with a little bit of heat.) Dreamland’s ribs are legendary and a must-try for new diners. The meaty pork spareribs are grilled over a hickory wood-fired pit until they’re falling off the bone, then slathered in the restaurant’s signature BBQ sauce. Dig into a full or half slab with your choice of classic southern sides. Finish it up with a bowl of the best banana pudding in town!

The Historic Waysider Restaurant

1512 Greensboro Avenue, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401
(205) 345-8239

Another historic T-town eatery, The Waysider is known to have the best breakfast in the city. The no-fuss menu features classic southern dishes like homemade hot cakes and country-cured ham topped with red eye gravy. All of their options are made the old way, with quality ingredients, steady hands, and a pile of secret family recipes. Rumor has it their famous handmade biscuits don’t even have a recipe, but are mixed by memory and baked in ancient cookware until they’re fluffy and golden.
