Tasty Dishes for Tailgating Tastebuds in Tuscaloosa

One of the best parts of a football game is the food. Tailgating is a crucial part of the college football experience, and Tuscaloosa tailgates are full of fans grilling, frying, smoking, dipping, mixing, and topping tasty dishes. While any food is fair game on gameday, there are some tailgate foods that just taste like football – and it’s a flavor many fans crave all year long.

If you fall in that category, you don’t have to wait until football season to enjoy the gameday foods you love! Whip up one of these tasty recipes to kickstart your tailgating tastebuds and perfect your gameday dishes so you’re ready to take on that first tailgate.

Pigs in a Blanket

This iconic finger food is a favorite at U of A tailgates (especially when we’re playing Arkansas.) They’re super easy to make, surprisingly addictive, and can feed an entire crowd with just 3 affordable ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1 package cocktail weenies. You can also use traditional hot dogs cut into quarters.
  • 2 8oz cans refrigerated crescent rolls
  • ⅓ cup Dijon mustard

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375ºF.
  2. Unroll both cans of crescent roll dough and flatten into squares by combining 2 triangles. Using a knife or pizza cutter, slice each square into small, equal strips.
  3. Spread a small dollop of Dijon mustard in the center of each strip.
  4. Place one weenie onto each strip of dough and roll up. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  5. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Beer Cheese Dip

It only takes 20 minutes to make a rich, creamy dip that combines two of the best flavors at any football tailgate: cheese and beer! Tip: the darker the beer, the bolder the taste.
