Are you just starting your U of A journey? Then you’ll want to attend family orientation, a two-day event that helps students and their families get settled at school. Attendees can view exhibitions from campus organizations, attend lectures and small-group workshops, take a tour of campus, and enjoy other scheduled events.

U of A Commencement Ceremonies

Three U of A commencement ceremonies allow families to celebrate their new graduate in the height of pomp and circumstance. This traditional graduation event is steeped in U of A tradition, from the ceremonial mace used by the commencement marshal to the graduate regalia and presidential chain.
Parking is available on a first-come, first-serve basis, and roads around the coliseum will close two hours before the event. But you don’t need to worry – the ceremony location is just 1.2 miles from WestGate, keeping you close to the action but well away from the crowds.
Family Weekend
September 22-24, 2023
This U of A tradition offers a full weekend of fun, food, and tradition. Families are encouraged to join their current U of A students on campus to experience our iconic gameday traditions as the football team takes on the University of Mississippi. Parents can attend open houses, take a guided campus tour, attend the family weekend tailgate and spend time with your student in their home away from home.
Registration for Family Weekend will open during summer 2023. Hotels will fill fast, so it’s best to book your stay now. Stay tuned to the U of A website for more information.
