All great cities have a downtown area, and Tuscaloosa is no exception. Our downtown district is a charming and vibrant space, with walkable streets that are lined with unique shops, historic landmarks, eclectic bars and eateries, and famous attractions. Stretching from the scenic Riverwalk to the back of Government Plaza, it offers something new and exciting to see, taste, and experience around every corner.
The best way to experience Tuscaloosa’s downtown area is to set out on foot from University Boulevard. A brief walk to Capitol Park holds many of the best downtown attractions, or you can veer onto one of the charming side streets for some less-traveled fun.
Of course, you’ll find yourself attracted to different places and activities depending on your personal preference. But there are some things unique to downtown Tuscaloosa that every visitor should experience as you stroll the lively streets.
