Winter is a perfect time for a fun weekend getaway. What better way to chase away the winter woes than with two full days of fun and frivolity? And if that winter weekend is in Tuscaloosa, you’ll find plenty of ways to warm your heart and raise your spirits, all just a short distance from your WestGate condo. We’ve even planned your itinerary so you can get right to packing your bags.

Day 1
Breakfast
Start your first day the T-Town way: with a hearty breakfast at Rama Jama’s. This Tuscaloosa staple serves the finest down-home breakfast, piling their plates high with fluffy eggs, scratch-made biscuits, country ham, grits, and other southern faves. The walls are peppered with historic memorabilia, and the famous rooftop A offers a great fan photo op.
Morning
Burn off that big breakfast with a stroll down the Tuscaloosa Riverwalk, a public trail that winds along the beautiful Black Warrior River. Be sure to stop by the Farmers Market to browse a charming mix of local produce, artisanal crafts, specialty goods and more from our local community.
Lunch
Head a few blocks south to the downtown district to dine at Sweet Home Food Bar, a charming eatery that sources local ingredients to create their Italian/American faire. Be sure to try their fried green tomatoes topped with sriracha aioli for a side with some spice!

Afternoon
After lunch, spend some time exploring the city’s walkable downtown district. You’ll find a vibrant mix of boutique and specialty stores, historic landmarks, cultural centers, eateries, bars, and live entertainment to enjoy.
Dinner
Back across the river, your dining destination is the original Dreamland BBQ. Now a national brand known for authentic southern flavor, this historic location started it all with their signature sauce and slow-burn smoking process. We bet you can’t eat a full rack of ribs!
Evening
Head out on the town to explore Tuscaloosa’s vibrant nightlife scene, where you’ll find everything from dancing and live bands to stand-up shows and specialty cocktails. Be sure to stop by Gallette’s for a world-famous Yellow Hammer before making your way back to WestGate!

Day 2
Brunch
Sleep in as long as you like, then walk the short mile down The Strip to Avenue Pub for a late-morning brunch. We recommend the chicken biscuit & gravy (it’s the best of both meals) and one of their boozy brunch cocktails.
Afternoon
Spend the afternoon museum-hopping through ancient and local history at one of our many educational exhibits. From the vast Museum of Natural History to the legendary Paul W. Bryant Museum, you can explore a variety of topics and time periods across the city.

Dinner
Make reservations at River to enjoy an elegant dining experience with waterfront views. From salads and steaks to their woodfire flatbreads, their no-fuss menu is packed with local flavor.
Evening
Enjoy live entertainment at the iconic Bama Theater to end your visit on a high note. The famous venue hosts events and exhibitions 300 nights per year, including musical acts, plays, visual art demonstrations, and more.
