In Tuscaloosa, weekends are made for WestGate – and a delicious midday brunch. After a night on the town (or a long evening football game), an indulgent brunch is a perfect way to sleep in late but still enjoy your morning meal (and a boozy breakfast cocktail). Tuscaloosa takes this weekend staple so seriously that you can find a different brunch on every block, from historic spots that feature southern selections to chic cafes with make-your-own bloody mary bars.
Whatever brings you to blend breakfast and lunch, here are the six best brunch spots in Tuscaloosa you can’t miss on your next WestGate weekend.

Avenue Pub
Just a short one-mile walk from your WestGate condo in Tuscaloosa, Avenue Pub is a relaxed, contemporary bar that serves a breathtaking brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 3pm. Unlike other restaurants, their brunch menu features items that are strictly lunch-inspired (we recommend the chicken club sandwich) as well as classic breakfast fare like French toast and huevos rancheros. Make it a meal to remember with a $5 Double Mimosa.

Central Mesa
If you want to mix it up, head to Central Mesa on Saturday or Sunday for a midday selection of traditional Mexican dishes with a unique southern twist. Their non-traditional menu features items like hot chicken and churros (their take on chicken and waffles), breakfast nachos, and Brisket Hash. Every item is crafted fresh in-house, from the meat in your meal to the fresh-squeezed OJ that makes your mimosa.

River
If you’re looking for brunch that’s a little more bougee, the iconic River restaurant offers upscale selections in a relaxed riverfront environment. Their menu features items like brunch charcuterie boards, hazelnut pancakes topped with fresh raspberries, or a smoked salmon bagel flavored with dill and fried capers. If the weather is nice, ask to sit outside to enjoy your brunch with a stunning view of the Black Warrior River. Brunch is served from 10am to 1pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

FIVE Bar
On Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 3pm, the modern-yet-minimalist FIVE Bar offers a delicious brunch fueled by live jazz music, delicious dishes, and a full bloody mary bar. The menu features five specialty dishes, but their amazing avocado toast is a can’t-miss bite of brunch-y goodness.

Southern Ale House
On weekend days from 11am to 2pm, the Southern Ale House serves a special menu full of southern-inspired selections. The brunch menu is revolving, but it always features classic dishes like homemade biscuit sandwiches, thick-cut bacon, and crispy hashbrown casserole- and of course, a full list of special brunch cocktail selections.

The SkyGate Club
We said no particular order, but we’ve definitely saved the best for last. When football is in full-swing, WestGate guests can enjoy a delicious gameday brunch at our luxurious SkyGate Club. Our chef whips up a full buffet of your favorite brunch bites, from buttery biscuits topped with crispy fried chicken to fresh fruit and fluffy eggs. Enjoy it on our rooftop terrace for an unmatched stadium view just steps from your convenient WestGate condo in Tuscaloosa!
