The Great Tuscaloosa Chili Cookoff

Spring weather can still be a bit chilly, but we have the perfect way to warm up at the annual Tuscaloosa Chili Cookoff. Sample more than 30 varieties of chili and vote for your favorites, then spend the afternoon enjoying children’s activities, live entertainment, vendor sales and more. Tickets are $10 at the door and all proceeds support the Exchange Club of Tuscaloosa and other local charities.
The Tuscaloosa Krispy Kreme Challenge

One of the sweetest events of the year happens right in the heart of Government Plaza. This popular family-friendly event puts a special twist on “fun run” as racers run one mile from the starting line, eat one dozen doughnuts, then run one mile back to the finish line. Hosted by the Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Alabama, your participation in this challenge will help match mentors to children in our community in need of guidance and support through life’s toughest challenges. Registration is $50 per entry.
Visit Tuscaloosa Half Marathon + Publix 5K

Government Plaza
Hosted by FRESHJUNKIE Racing (FJR), this half-marathon running race traces some of the most scenic sights in town, from the banks of Black Warrior River along the Tuscaloosa River Walk to portions of our U of A campus and charming downtown district. Runners can also join the Publix 5K for a shorter (but no less stunning) piece of the action. The start and finish line at Government Plaza offers plenty of place to spread out at the post-run party with live music, good food and cold beer. Portions of registration proceeds benefit local charities, volunteer and philanthropic groups.
Druid City Arts Festival

The 15th annual Druid City Arts Festival is a can’t-miss event that celebrates our rich artistic scene and vibrant local culture. The 2-day festival features artists exhibiting from all over the Southeast, live music, educational demonstrations, a kids zone, food trucks, a beer garden and more. Art connoisseurs will find a variety of mediums and forms to explore, including contemporary art and sculpture, contemporary craft, traditional/heritage craft, and folk/self-taught artists.

Who knew your sweet tooth could support family counseling services? At Death By Chocolate, you’ll get the chance to sample various chocolate concoctions from a dozen of the area’s best bakers and chefs, then vote for your favorite. At the end of the night, awards will be presented to the most popular chocolateers. Tickets are $35 and proceeds benefit Family Counseling Service Tuscaloosa.
West Alabama Food & Wine Festival

This is one delicious event you’ll want to sink your teeth in. The annual West Alabama Food & Wine Festival is a gourmet celebration featuring sweets, small plates, and signature dishes from a wide range of local restaurants. As you roam and sample, sip on a variety of world-class wines, Alabama-based craft beers, aged whiskeys and other delectable spirits. Tickets can be ordered online and the festival benefits the West Alabama Food Bank and Turning Point.
